One burn victim died among nine people who sustained burn injuries after a fire broke out at a Marium Bhaban in Uttar Kattali area of the port city Chattogram early Monday.

Six more fire victims were sent to Dhaka for better treatment. Two of them are in critical condition.

The deceased were identified as Peyari Begum, 62. She breathed her last around 12:30pm at the Burn Unit of Chattogram Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) while undergoing treatment.

Dr Rafique Uddin, Burn Unit doctor of CMCH, confirmed the matter.
